DEFINITION

Classification: 175/59

(under subclass 58) Processes comprising the step of (1) maintaining the natural fluid content of the earth sample or (2) taking a discrete sample of the fluid occurring in the borehole or its surrounding earth formations.

(1) Note. Processes including the step of taking a single sample comprising a solid and liquid, as for example a sample of drill cuttings and drilling fluid, are not included in this subclass unless there is some additional step of

maintaining the natural fluid content of the solid earth portion of the sample.
