(under subclass 271) Vehicle wherein the means responds to a contact of an outermost portion, or an element (e.g., a bumper for protecting the vehicle body) thereon, of the vehicle with an object (e.g., a roadway guardrail, another vehicle, etc.) which is not a part of the vehicle.

(1) Note. The art of this and the indented subclasses represents a reclassification of former subclasses 91+. It has not been possible at this time to determine whether a conflict may exist between the art of this subclass (274) and that of subclasses 2+ of Class 293.
