(under subclass 502) Operator* including either a rigid* or semirigid*, rotatable camming or shiftable wedging element having a contact surface which slides against, for causing the movement of, a cooperating contact surface on or attached to either the swinging gripping member or the other opposed gripping member when a rotating or shifting force is applied to the camming or wedging element and wherein the relative orientation or contour of one of the contacting surfaces causes the movement of the contacted surface of one of the gripping members to be in a direction other than (i.e., not identical to) that of the shifting or rotating movement of the element.
