DEFINITION

Classification: 267/254

Quadrilateral suspension:

(under subclass 248) Spring device including four rigid links pivoted together to form a four-sided polygon, wherein the relatively moving parts of the vehicle are connected to different links and one link serves as the "lever" connected to the spring element, whereby relative movement between the vehicle parts causes the shape of the polygon to change.

(1) Note. Typically, the links comprise the upper and lower control arms, the wheel axle support, and the vehicle chassis, and the arrangement is applied between a vehicle wheel and chassis as an "independent suspension".
