Snatch roll:

(under subclass 370) Subject matter wherein the surface characteristics of said continuously rotated cylindrical member include toothlike projections extending circumferentially around the member, each projection being substantially parallel to the axis of rotation of the member to form a longitudinally corrugated surface on the member, and wherein said component is a pawl* or a star wheel (i.e., a rotatable element having projections or teeth extending radially), which component is temporarily engaged with said surface when an actuation of the typewriter is desired.
