DEFINITION

Classification: 411/172

Nut having a portion for attachment to substructure:

(under subclass 166) Device wherein the structural characteristic comprises the formation of the nut, and of structure for retaining the nut in a particular relationship with an aperture that is formed in the substructure for the purpose of receiving the bolt, as a single element, and wherein the element makes contact with the substructure at one or more locations on each of its oppositely (i.e., outwardly) facing surfaces.

(1) Note. Frequently, the substructure of the definition is one of two panels which are being joined in a facing relationship, the other panel having an aperture for receiving a bolt as it passes through that panel enroute to the first panel and its nut.
