DEFINITION

Classification: 416/179

(under the class definition) Apparatus wherein a rotary impeller* comprises (1) a working fluid flow directing surface integral with the impeller* and circumferentially continuous about the rotation axis or (2) a flow passage which wholly confines the working fluid while in working engagement therewith.

(1) Note. Included under this definition is a device in which a surface or part of the working member forms a portion of the circumferentially continuous flow directing surface.

(2) Note. Included in this and indented subclasses is a device which would inherently confine fluid, as defined, even though not so specifically disclosed.
