Preparation by hydrolysis of proteins:

(under subclass 512) Processes wherein the acids are produced by the degradation of proteins such as gluten, casein, keratin, and zein.

(1) Note. This subclass also includes patents which claim the recovery of acids from protein hydrolysates without reciting the actual step of hydrolysis.
