DEFINITION

Classification: 75/439

Pouring molten Iron (Fe) into molten slag (i.e., aston

process):

(under subclass 438) Process wherein molten low Carbon (C) Iron (Fe) is poured into molten slag. The Iron becomes intimately mixed with the slag and then settles, carrying with it some slag. Liquid slag is poured off and the pasty Iron-slag mixture is worked to yield wrought Iron.
